Colon, Rectal & Vascular Surgery
Dr. Tom Bascom was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was raised in Eugene, Oregon, where he has practiced surgery since 1991. He completed his general surgery residency in Madison, Wisconsin, under Dr. Folkert Baelzer, and then trained in colon and rectal surgery under Mr. Hamish Thomson at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
Dr. Bascom is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the Northwest Colon & Rectal Society, the Oregon Medical Association and the Lane County Medical Society. He has a broad practice in general and vascular surgery with a special interest in Colon and Rectal Surgery. He and his father John Bascom, MD, PhD have been pioneers in pilonidal surgery techniques. Together, they have published articles and lectured on pilonidal surgery. They offer innovative solutions for failed or recurrent pilonidal problems.
Dr. Bascom and his wife have three children and in his spare time enjoys tending to his backyard chicken coop, backcountry skiing, bicycling, gardening with his wife Sarah, and parenting his three little rascals.
