General & Vascular Surgery

Dr. David DeHaas was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and raised in Western, Pennsylvania. His hobbies include skiing, hiking and golf. He moved to Eugene with his family in 1995 after practicing general and vascular surgery for eight years in Virginia.

He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Oregon Medical Association and Lane County Medical Society. He has published and lectured on topics in general, colorectal, vascular and trauma surgery.

A medical leader in the Eugene community, Dr. DeHaas is currently the NSQIP Surgeon Champion, Executive Medical Director of the Surgery Institute, Chair of the Surgery Best Practice Team, Medical Director of Surgery as well as the previous Surgery Division Chief, Vice Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff and Past Chief of Staff at Sacred Heart Medical Center. Dr. DeHaas also served as the Medical Director of Trauma at Sacred Heart Medical Center for 17 years. He is currently the Chair of the Sacred Heart Medical Center – RiverBend and Oregon West Network Board Quality Committees and
Clinical Course Director for Surgical Services, Center for Medical Education & Research at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center.

His leadership skills are coupled with a broad array of surgical expertise with special interests in colorectal, vascular and oncologic surgery. His breadth of knowledge is highlighted by his extensive experience with surgery for inflammatory bowel disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, hepatobiliary surgery, pancreatic surgery and vascular surgery
